Dr. Byrum has been an active member of the Public Relations Society of America since 1997 and serves the professional organization on a national basis. Today she is part of a the MBA program research team performing qualitative and quantititive research to measure the effectiveness of strategic communications curriculum nationwide. She served on the MBA Program committee promoting the inclusion of public relations curriculum in MBA programs nationwide. As part of the Educator’s Academy, a special interest group of the Public Relations Society of America, Dr. Byrum meets annually with public relations professors in the United States.

She earned APR accreditation in 2003 and has earned the highest level of recognition in public relations, as membership in the PRSA College of Fellows.
