“Media Relations and  Community Engagement for the International Conference”

In 2015, Bloomsburg University hosted the International Conference on Virginia Woolf, bringing global scholars to the University. As part of the planning team, Dr. Byrum put her public relations skills to work arranging interviews for Professor Julie Vandivere and College of Liberal Arts Dean James S. Brown with WVIA-FM. The outreach resulted in exposure on WVIA-TV with a feature length segment.

During the conference, Dr. Byrum offered professional media relations services for Cecil Woolf, a visiting dignitary who is Leonard Woolf’s nephew.

“I was so impressed with the ways you connected both local and regional support, brining together high school students, undergraduates, professors, and international scholars to talk in compelling and interesting ways about the conference. Because of you, the university was featured on news stations, blogs, and the Internet,” said Julie Vandivere, Ph.D., Professor of English.
